Resources about Harriet Tubman

“The Life of Harriet Tubman.” New York History Net. 14 June 2007 < http://www.nyhistory.com/harriettubman/life.htm >.

The purpose of the website is to provide historians and students with a place to research history. Harriet Tubman played a major role in freeing American slaves. After freeing herself, Tubman helped free another estimated 300 slaves. Tubman always held tight to her beliefs. At the age of twelve she was seriously injured by a blow to the head for refusing to tie up another slave. This website was helpful because it explained the importance of spirituality in Tubman’s life. Slaves embraced religion and culture as a way of coping with the harsh realities before them.
